Configure coding agents
Use CodeGraph with a coding agent
Use optional CodeGraph alongside alterac.ai with agent access and a separate index for each task worktree.
You can use CodeGraph (external site) alongside alterac.ai to help your coding agent explore repository code. It is an optional third-party tool that you set up separately. alterac.ai does not install or require it, and your coding-agent launch command stays the same.
Follow CodeGraph's installation and agent wiring instructions (external site), including MCP setup for your agent. Installing its CLI, connecting the agent through MCP, and indexing your code are separate steps.
alterac.ai agents work in dedicated task worktrees. Initialize a separate CodeGraph index in each assigned worktree and use codegraph status --json to confirm that projectPath points there. For MCP exploration through codegraph_explore, select that same absolute worktree path with projectPath; for CLI exploration, use --path to select it explicitly. An index in the original checkout is not a substitute for the task's index.
Keep generated .codegraph/ data ignored and retain repository exclusions for secrets, local agent state, and build output. Choose your telemetry preference (external site) separately; shell environment settings may need to be configured for the MCP server too.
Your repository's agent instructions can make this worktree requirement explicit. For example:
## CodeGraph
Use CodeGraph only when already available; do not install it for a task.
Initialize its index in the assigned task worktree and verify projectPath.
If that worktree has no .codegraph directory, initialize it before exploration.
For MCP, pass that absolute worktree root as projectPath to codegraph_explore.
Keep repository exclusions and generated graph data ignored.
Set CODEGRAPH_TELEMETRY=0 and DO_NOT_TRACK=1 for CLI and MCP processes.
Run codegraph sync after edits before relying on results.
If unavailable or unhelpful, use source search and direct reads.
Follow the alterac.ai process and required repository validation throughout.
This example disables telemetry and uses manual sync. Adapt it to your repository's policy.
