Download the CLI manually

Download a verified stable alterac.ai CLI archive and set up a user-owned installation when you cannot run the install script.

1. Download alterac.ai CLI

Loading current CLI downloads…

Archive links will appear after both release manifests have been validated.

2. Install alterac.ai CLI

Installation steps will appear after the selected archive has been validated. Retry the download check above when your local release origin is available.

Choose your operating system and processor above, then follow the commands for your shell. The page validates both release manifests before showing archive links or installation commands.

3. Confirm it works

After the tab's commands finish, open a new terminal and run:

alterac-ai --version

The output should match the stable version shown above. Then initialize alterac.ai in a repository.

When the CLI reports a newer version

An ordinary command may report that a newer stable CLI is available. The warning names both the installed and available versions and links to Install the CLI. The CLI checks before running the command when its last successful check is at least 15 minutes old. A due check waits at most two seconds for release metadata. If the check fails, the command still runs normally, and the CLI waits at least one minute before retrying. A warning based on a previously verified newer release remains visible during a failed check.

To upgrade, rerun the recommended install command. The CLI does not update itself. A separate warning about outdated repository guidance means you should also run alterac-ai docs-update; replacing the executable and refreshing repository guidance are separate steps.

Important: unsigned-binary warnings

On macOS, the first launch may say Apple cannot verify the developer. After verifying the checksum, try the command once, open System Settings, select Privacy & Security, and use Open Anyway for alterac-ai if your organization's policy allows it. Confirm Open when macOS asks. This approves that executable; it does not require disabling Gatekeeper globally.

On Windows, SmartScreen may show Windows protected your PC. After verifying the checksum, select More info, review that the app is alterac-ai.exe, and select Run anyway if your organization's policy allows it. Do not disable SmartScreen. A managed device may intentionally prevent either exception; contact your organization instead of bypassing that policy.

If something goes wrong

If downloads are unavailable, check your connection and select Retry manifest loading. Do not construct a download URL yourself.

If a new terminal cannot find alterac-ai, see Fix repository setup. If a version warning persists after replacement, open a new terminal and confirm that alterac-ai --version reports the stable version shown above.
