Create organizations and projects

Create an organization and project before setting up alterac.ai locally. Organizations group access and projects contain the task workflow.

1. In the dashboard, select Organizations, then select Create organization.
2. Enter a clear organization name and slug. You can optionally add a logo.
3. Select Create organization.

You become the organization's owner. The organization groups projects and controls who can manage organization-wide members, labels, and settings.

If this action is unavailable, ask an existing organization owner or administrator to add you or create the workspace.

If you have a logo handy, add it. It gives the workspace a little personality and appears throughout navigation wherever it can help people recognize the organization.

1. Open the organization you created.
2. Select Create project.
3. Enter a clear project name and slug. You can optionally add a logo.
4. Select Create project.

The project opens to its dashboard, including Tasks and Coding agents. Use the project that matches the existing local Git repository where you will use alterac.ai. If the project already exists, open it instead of creating another one.

An organization owns its projects. Organization owners and admins can access every project in that organization. By default, new organization members become Team Members in every project. An organization owner or admin can turn off that default in organization settings when projects need individually managed access.

Organization access also requires active licenses. Your Organizations list always remains the dashboard starting point, even when you belong to only one organization. An expired organization remains visible there with an Expired status in place of its organization icon, so you can distinguish blocked access from removed membership. Selecting it, or opening any of its deep links, routes you to a blocked-access page inside the normal dashboard shell instead of organization content. You cannot open or change projects, tasks, members, pending access, or settings while it is expired. The page shows the expiration date and organization time zone, prominently directs you to contact [email protected] to reactivate licenses, checks for reactivation automatically, and returns to the requested organization page when service is restored. Existing memberships and project state remain in place throughout expiration.

If an organization link no longer exists or you no longer have access, alterac.ai shows an Organization not found recovery page. The app navigation bar remains available, while organization navigation, the sidebar, breadcrumbs, and organization content are removed. Select Return to Organizations to choose an organization you can access.

Project members can work in the projects to which they are added. A project lead can manage that project's settings, members, and labels, but cannot delete the project or manage the organization.

Use Manage members and roles to give people the access they need. Use Manage labels when you want shared task categories.

With the project open, a local checkout of the Git repository ready, and the people who will work there added with appropriate organization or project access, continue to complete your first task. You can configure a project-level command through coding-agent setup before queueing work.
