Work with tasks
View and manage Plans
Create and edit Plans, manage one task membership at a time, and review count-based progress and archive visibility.
A Plan is a durable project grouping for related tasks. Open Plans from a project to create a Plan, manage one task membership at a time, and review normally listed or archived Plans without changing how their tasks are ordered or worked.
Choose Create Plan from the Plans area. Enter a title, add optional Markdown, and choose any available organization or project labels. A title is required, but it does not need to be unique. You can create the Plan without tasks and assign them later.
Plan labels are independent from task labels. Selecting a new label from the same scoped group replaces the previous scoped choice. If a selected label is no longer available, refresh the labels and choose again before saving.
Choose Plans or Archived to move between the normal Plans list and Archived Plans. On Plans, open the Progress button and select any combination of Unstarted, Started, and Completed. The list matches any selected category. Clear every selection to show all Plans again. Empty Plans count as Unstarted for filtering, but still show no completion percentage. The archived list does not offer this filter because archiving is independent from completion.
Select a sortable Plan, Title, Tasks, Progress, or Updated column header to order the current result set. Your selected progress categories and sort selection stay in the page address, so refreshing or sharing that address restores the same view. When you return to Plans without a progress filter in the address, it remembers the last category combination you chose for that project. Valid progress categories in the address take precedence, so shared links still open the specified view. Choose Show all Plans when a progress filter has no matching Plans.
Completion is the number of Done tasks divided by the total number of tasks. It is based on task count, not Mass. An empty Plan shows 0 tasks and no percentage because there is no total to divide by.
Open a Plan by its number or title. Archived Plans remain available from the archived list and through their direct detail page.
You can also find Plan work from the project task list. Search for and combine individual active Plans, Incomplete plans, Complete plans, and Unplanned tasks, or choose All Plans to include every task, including tasks whose Plans are archived. Plan choices use match-any behavior with each other and intersect with label and other task filters.
The detail page puts the total task count beside its state summary and shows count-based completion in a progress meter with the percentage and Done-task count. It also shows the Plan's Markdown, labels, Backlog, Queued, Agent working, Reviewing, and Done task counts, and total Mass. Archived Plans also show their archive state. The Plan tasks table uses the same task information as the project task list, so you can open a Plan task to continue its normal workflow.
When a member has unfinished direct dependencies, the table shows a red blocker icon and count beside its title. Select the count to see each unfinished dependency's task number, title, and state. Open a dependency from the popover to inspect it; use Back to return to the originating Plan. Completed dependencies are not included, and the blocker disappears after the task data refreshes when all direct dependencies are Done. Archived Plans keep this read-only blocker information visible.
Plan membership only groups tasks. It does not change task state, assignee, Mass, labels, dependencies, comments, work runs, or list order. Plan labels and task labels also remain independent.
Open a Plan and choose Edit Plan to change its title, optional Markdown, or complete label selection. Saving these fields does not add, remove, or update member tasks.
On an active Plan, use Add or move a task to search project tasks by number or title. Each result shows the task state and whether the task is Unplanned or belongs to another numbered Plan. Choosing one result immediately adds or moves only that task to the open Plan; no confirmation is required.
Choose Remove on a current member to make only that task Unplanned. Removing membership preserves the task and all task-owned content and workflow state. Repeat the action separately for each task you want to change; Plans do not provide bulk membership editing.
You can also create or edit a task to choose one active Plan or Unplanned. Task detail links its numbered Plan beside the other task metadata. If the Plan is later archived, existing task membership and the detail link remain visible; the archived Plan is not offered for new membership, but you can clear or move the existing membership.
Open the Plan's more-actions menu and choose Archive Plan when it should leave the normal Plans list. Open it from Archived Plans and choose Restore Plan when it should return.
Archiving changes visibility only. The Plan's Markdown, labels, tasks, and task memberships stay intact, and its detail page remains available. Restoring the Plan returns it to the Plans list with the same membership.
An archived Plan keeps its member tasks visible but does not show controls for adding, moving, or removing them. Restore the Plan before changing membership.
