Start a planning session

Start a Task Builder Session when you and your local AI tool are ready to turn one or more task ideas into drafts you can review. The tasks can be unrelated one-offs, a related feature plan, or a mix of both. You will finish with one active Building session and a route to inspect it in alterac.ai.

This usually takes a few minutes. Before you begin, make sure your repository is connected to the intended project and your local AI tool can use the alterac.ai CLI.

1. Describe the task ideas you want to plan to your local AI tool. Include important constraints, risks, and any ordering that matters.
2. Ask it to create a Task Builder Session for the project, with a clear title and concise Markdown session overview.
3. Ask for the session number or open Task Builder in your project to inspect the structured result.

Expected result: the new session is shown as Building. It is a workspace for proposed work, not a set of published project tasks.

If you are refining an earlier plan, ask your local AI tool to select its existing Building session instead of creating another one. The selected session becomes the active session for later draft changes in that repository.

Only one active session is selected locally at a time. Selecting a session does not publish it or change its drafts. A session that has already been Published cannot be selected for further draft changes.

The Task Builder list separates Building sessions from published history. Open the Building session to review its Markdown-rendered overview and drafts.

At this point, continue the local conversation whenever the content or organization needs work. The Task Builder website is for structured review; draft changes return to your local AI tool and its CLI commands.

Refine your draft tasks, then review the complete session before publishing.
